Daily Reset for Shoulder Pain

If your shoulder feels tight and guarded by the end of the day, especially after reaching overhead, carrying something heavy, or sitting hunched at a desk, a short daily reset can make a real difference before that tightness turns into a flare-up.

The goal isn’t a long workout. It’s a quick sequence, done in the right order, that reduces load on the shoulder, wakes up the muscles that stabilize it, and restores normal movement.

The Reset

  1. Arm Circles — Reduce Load
Stand tall, arms relaxed at your sides. Make slow, small circles forward for 10 reps, then reverse for 10 reps. This eases tension before asking the shoulder to do more work.
  2. Scapular Squeeze — Reactivate Stabilizers
Sit or stand with arms relaxed. Squeeze your shoulder blades together and hold for 5 seconds. Repeat 10 times. This wakes up the muscles that hold your shoulder blade in place during the day.
  3. Standing Band Row — Restore Movement
Anchor a light resistance band at chest height. Pull both handles toward your ribs, elbows close to your body, and slowly release. 10 to 12 reps. This restores controlled, full-range movement.

Do this once in the morning and once in the evening, especially on days with a lot of reaching, lifting, or desk time.

A CBD topical can also help take the edge off tightness before or after your reset, so movement feels less guarded. It won’t fix the underlying problem, but it may help you move more comfortably while you build real capacity.
